As an RN Risk Analyst, you will coordinate Risk Management Program initiatives throughout the Southeast Georgia Health System. You will evaluate patient and visitor safety events and implement risk management programs designed to enhance patient safety, reduce injuries, and prevent claims.

You will be responsible for:

  • Investigating risk exposures utilizing the following methods: regularly reviewing reported safety events, conducting medical record reviews and interviews of team members and/or medical staff when appropriate, preparing risk summaries and reports, coordinating with multiple clinical and professional departments to resolve risk issues, and consulting with the Director of Risk Management.
  • Serving as the administrator of the Health System’s safety event reporting system. Reviewing all reported patient and visitor safety events and assigning event investigations to appropriate leadership for review, follow-up, and closure upon completion. Follows up with team members and/or complainant when appropriate.
  • Collaborating with Quality Improvement Department on certain safety events to identify risk exposures or trends and to prevent claims and mitigate future occurrences. Facilitating causal analyses in coordination with Quality Improvement.
  • Collaborating with Patient Experience Department on certain customer complaints involving potential risk exposures. Conducting clinical reviews as requested by Patient Experience and routinely meeting with Patient Experience to facilitate resolution of issues in a timely manner.
  • Collecting, evaluating, and maintaining data concerning events, claims, and other risk related occurrences as applicable. Conducting and preparing clinical reviews for claims and assisting the Director of Risk Management in obtaining and preserving clinical evidence as applicable.
  • Investigating and analyzing root causes, patterns or trends that could result in compensatory or sentinel events. For sentinel events, performs immediate investigation, prepares necessary report(s), and facilitates root cause analysis in a timely manner.
  • Developing weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on reported/identified patient safety events. Provides reports on risk trends as requested.
  • Actively participating in Medical Ethics Advisory Committee. Facilitates Ethics consults on a case-by-case basis when requested and prepares summary report of each Ethics consult.
  • Provides education on risk management topics as needed, requested and/or assigned.

What you will need:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Five (5) years of direct clinical patient care experience required. Risk Management Experience or Certification in Risk Management preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License to practice in the State of Georgia
